I’m in regular conversation with David d’Orton-Gibson at Training for Professionals who is monitoring the legislation as it progresses through Parliament.
TfP will issue updated documents when the legislation is in its final form and they will be distributed to Rentman users as soon as possible.
I’m also talking to users about expected changes in workflow.
- Let Only invoicing seems the biggest change;
- either you will issue commission invoices each month for the duration of the tenancy (and chase payment)
- or you issue a full year’s invoice but prepare for Credit Note refunds if tenants move out early.
- Renewals are most likely a thing of the past.. so what was the renewal commission will now most likely be tied to rent increases (with you again chasing payment).
- Easiest is probably to try and make all Let Only properties Managed.
- I’ll be making a few changes around Check Outs so the next tenancy is flagged as “vacant possession” and you can confidently send the Agreement for signatures.
